The Regional Plans prepared by the Board have attempted to meet the challenges through its recommendations on policies and programmes for the NCR region.  The NCR Regional Plan-2001(RP-2001), the first statutory regional plan for the region, was released in 1989 by the NCRPB. (The second Regional Plan viz. Regional Plan-2021 has been notified in September, 2005). The Regional Plan-2001(RP-2001) aimed at relieving the capital city from additional pressures by inducing growth and development of settlements in NCR, particularly to the regional urban centres specially those located beyond the Delhi Metropolitan Area (DMA - now CNCR) by creating facilities and infrastructure comparable to Delhi in the identified regional centres outside Delhi.
